Deep Loot 2.2

Great fortunes await!

Does the ocean fascinate you? Have you ever wondered what treasures and secrets might lie hidden deep beneath layers of salty water? Well if you didn't you'd better snap out of it. Quit dreaming about outer space and be more pragmatic for goodness' sake!

Deep Loot is an exploration game. You start off as corpulent bald diver with only his red speedo as protection. His motivation for diving in the treacherous sea comes from teamwork. You are part of a team of three. Carston Hugh Knickerworthy is a wealthy and well dressed gentleman from Westhopbury that leads this little exploration venture. There's also Mackey Landhoy, an experienced sailor and expert pipe smoker. Finally there's you, who's going to be doing all the job, while the other two buffoons enjoy their Martinis aboard the ship.

Deep Loot - deep find

After being submerged in water, you can begin moving around. You tap in the direction that you want to swim. Options include, drilling through sea bed(?), opening chests, picking up loot and shooting your laser weapon at underwater critters of varying aggressiveness. There's only enough time as your oxygen supply lasts. Everything will cost more or less oxygen depending on the type of action. Drilling for example is much more taxing than picking up a chess piece. Not to worry though, you have plenty of physical time to plan out your approach. While you sit still, oxygen levels stagnate and marine life is still. In other words Deep Loot is played in a simultaneous turn manner. This is important to know when confronting more menacing life forms down in the dark depths.

Once you finish your dive, your findings and kills will be converted into coins which are vital in order to get better equipment. You can acquire better diving gear, better laser, drill piece and oxygen storage, but you can also bump up your efficiency buy buying attack and defense packs as well as extra oxygen to prolong your marination period.

Deep Loot - collection

Although there's no clear purpose to Deep Loot, there is a collectible aspect. While some items are just quick cash, others are part of specific collections that Sir Carston (oh by the way, all of the names are made up) has made it clear they need completed. Of course, once you complete a set, you can sell it for cash and begin scavenging for it again. Weird.

Deep Loot doesn't offer much in the sound effects department but has a spiffy soundtrack that really creeps on you.

Conclusion

Diving deep, exploring lost sites, fighting monsters and getting loot is the essence of this game. Quite a fine activity, and well done game.
